Dear Hip Ex Family,

After 22 years of building this beautiful community together, I'm writing to share an important evolution in the Hip Expressions journey.

At the year of the snake starts to wind down, there’s one final shed that is required. Hip Expressions has outgrown our existing model, with what we need, and as times change and people’s habits shift.

It is time that we leave the restrictive space of maintaining a full menu of weekly classes, and move forward focusing on our energy on what we do best… Creating epic events and experiences! Yes, this will still include some courses, but everything will revolve around the creative pulse of manifesting shows, retreats, workshops, events, etc.… All the things that we are best known for!

This is going to give us the freedom to fully create in spirit without the trying to maintaining a space we can't quite squeeze all of our creativity into!

SO...

Our regular studio classes will run through the end of February 2026, culminating in our Anniversary Show on March 1st—the biggest celebration in our studio's history! After that, we're transforming our business model to focus on what truly lights us up: creating epic events and experiences.

We've realized that our community thrives most when we are inspired.

While we've offered classes year-round, the magic happens when we're preparing for shows, creating epic events, workshops, performances, and experiences - like the cruise, larger workshops, and of course, Tribal Burn!

By focusing our energy on EPIC events and experiences, larger and smaller productions and the choreographies leading up to them, plus pop-up workshops, and private events, we can create more of what you love most—without the overhead that has been dragging us down.

Hip Expressions exists to nurture an artistic community through powerful public and private cultural dance performances and experiences to inspire, nurture, and share our passion.

What this means for you:

January & February - The Grand Finale

These next 8 weeks are precious. Your favorite teachers, this space, these classes—it's all here for you one last time. Take as many classes as you can. Use up your class cards. Be part of the countdown. Help us prepare for the most special anniversary show we've ever produced.

February 22 - March 1 - Hip Ex Homecoming Week

Join us for a VIP week of events that we *usually* do on the cruise, but right here on land! Dress-up theme nights, excursions, parties, shows, exclusive workshops, beach, museums, it's non-stop EPIC fun that you won't want to miss. Registration opens up the full schedule of events (price does NOT include meals & admissions).

March 1st - Anniversary Show

This will be our grand celebration—a tribute to everything we've built together. A performance that honors our legacy and launches our future. Mark your calendars. You don't want to miss this!

March 2nd and Beyond - Our New Model

We'll continue and expand upon what we do best!

• 3-4 major public performances annually
• Corresponding choreographies taught with an invitation to be part of the performance
• Pop-up classes and workshops at various locations
• Private performances for events and parties
• Available for group classes and girl's nights (ready to host?)
• An Etsy store featuring fire dance tools and accessories
• Cruises, Retreats, Excursions, and Holidays
• A vibrant artistic community that comes together for what we do best: CREATING EPIC EVENTS & EXPERIENCES

For our incredible teachers: I've already spoken with each of you individually. Thank you for everything you've given to this community. I'm committed to supporting your transitions and celebrating your contributions at our anniversary show!

This isn't goodbye—it's transformation. The art continues. The community continues. We're just simplifying to focus on what makes us come alive.

I know change can feel uncomfortable, even when it's positive. I'm here for your questions, your feelings, and your excitement about what's ahead.
