Belly Dance Program

At the heart of Hip Expressions, we started with our love for Belly Dance.

Enjoy exploring your connection to your body and your self surrounded by a friendly community! We play with ancient feminine movements that guide us towards loving our body, becoming more confident, strong and sexy. Discover the beautiful being you are from the inside out as you learn to express yourself, no fear, no self-judgement, only curiosity, exploration, and ... fun!

Belly dance is not only a technique - but a lifestyle of realizing you a compassionate, beautiful, graceful divine creature that brightens every room you’re in. Yes, YOU have that power within you just waiting for you to tap in through these time-honored traditions!

Belly Dance 1 runs in a three month series, and it's suggested to attend all three months before starting level 2, ask your instructor if you are ready. Here we focus on cultivating your inner dancer, helping you try on belly dance moves and connect with your body in a positive, graceful, so you grow past your perceived limitations. We explore themes to help your foundations, your flow, and build your expression!

Belly Dance 2 Here is where we get serious about building stamina and technique! We'll work on combinations, isolations and more challenging combinations and exercises. Dancers still attend Level 1 classes to work deeper on the fundamentals.

Belly Dance 3 is where we kick it up a notch, focusing on choreography and fine-tuning technique. Attendance is by instructor's approval and dancers are welcome to learn whether they are interested in performing or not, no commitment necessary. When a performance opportunity comes up , those who have been in consistent attendance and proficient at the dance will be invited to perform. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled to make sure the group is prepared! Check with the instructor as to what style and props are being currently explored. Dancers still attend Level 1 and 2 classes. Not included in Membership, use your 10 class pass or drop in.

Beginner Belly Dance Classes

Our Beginner Classes rotate monthly themes, to connect you to the foundations of the dance. Our dance is a spiral... you keep going deeper as you continue to learn. Many more experienced dancers still return to Level 1 to connect with the dance and to the movement inspired from within.

ROOTS: Foundational rhythms and footwork to ground yourself into your body and the music through the earth.

FLAIR: Exploring how emotions are energy in motion and aid in storytelling - moving with meaning! Fiery accents, pizzaz, and more.

FLOW: Tapping into the energy of the movement of air and water to synthesize movements, connecting with circles and spirals.
